There are some things in life that bring tears to my eyes. Handel's Messiah. Getting married. The birth of my children. Ronald Reagan saying "tear down this wall".

That is wonderful news (here comes the but) but...
I can't help feeling a very unpleasant feeling that one of the very important lessons of this situation will not be learned by those who most need to learn it, for the sake of those over whom they have power, and their own sakes.
I wish that I could argue against your pessimism, but I cannot. Maybe that's why it's important for the rest of us to remember and remind the "thick skulls" of reality?
