....don't seem so cheap after you've paid $8 for a lead test to make sure that they didn't use lead paint on it, or after you give thousands to Underwriters Laboratories to make sure there are no other obvious hazards. Of course, if you brush your teeth with Chinese toothpaste after putting that bill on credit, you might not have to worry about it.
One wonders of Mattel and other companies have ever heard of "supplier quality engineers" who make sure that things like this don't happen.

All China cares about is $$$, well isn't that what everyone cares about? The only diff in the U.S. is there are laws against foreknowledge of bad products which makes U.S. companies a little more responsible. And the Chinese govt recently put it's top FDA official to death for "taking bribes". I think it was more like a scape goat.
On the other hand, an LA Times column today pointed out that the Chinese have been living with this kind of thing for decades, and it's Wal-Mart that is driving this kind of thing out.
Yes, greed can kill, but if it does, it doesn't make very many sales in the future. :^)
