.....appears to be occurring in the Department of Defense, as officials are wondering why 30% of senior commander firings are for sexual misconduct, and why there were 796 cases of sexual assault in the Air Force last year. For comparison's sake, the overall rate of rape in the United States is about 40 per hundred thousand, which would be an expected number of about 25 rapes among the 68,000 women in the Air Force. It appears that the Air Force has a far higher rate of sexual assault than the nation as a whole.
Now to be fair, the DOD is enhancing their efforts in ethics training and outreach to the victims, but absent is a very basic question; why did these crimes occur? Are we allowing likely criminals into the services, or is nature taking its course as young men and women find themselves lonely and bored? What is the cost of this to military preparedness?

definately, the age span is playing a role.
dealing with mostly 20yr olds here. and USAF, i beleive, does enlist more women by % than the other services.
my brother is career army. he says the proper term for military women is 'matresses'. promiscuity is very high among them.
In other words, every potential recruit and his/her parents should be told that they'll be going into an environment where most women are treated like cheap whores.
Friends of mine who are retired military say the same thing; officers spent an inordinate amount of time dealing with what used to be conduct unbecoming a soldier.
A female Air Force translator in our church told us that there was a regular "Naked Time" in her co-ed dorms while she was stationed in Iraq. Asked what she could do about it? "Put your head down and wait for it to end."
Bubb: not exactly. its an environemnt where the women tend to present themselves as willing meat.
they are young, hormones are raging.
and the military life isnt exactly the type of life your typical cotillian girl finds much attraction in... as opposed to the type of girl who tends to be more daring (or blaring) in her pursuits.
if a young woman is hungry for dudes, the military is the place to find young, healthy, fit ones.

Either way, any young person who wants to go into the military needs to be warned about the assault that's going to occur on his or her conscience, not to mention the parents.
