It's B. Hussein Obama vs. the laws of economics and physics, according to Hugh Hewitt. In a single speech, he both claimed that drilling for oil would make no difference in price, and also that if we'd only thrown more money into alternative powertrains, we'd have a cost effective powertrain that used no fossil fuels.
Evidently, that Harvard education he got didn't include the concepts of supply and demand, or enough physics and chemistry to understand why the gasoline engine is a pretty good way to power a vehicle. You would think that the guy who has owned both a vehicle with a Hemi and an Escape Hybrid would clue into this even without a Harvard education, but evidently not.
He's going to lose this one by KO, and hopefully it'll happen before November instead of after.

oh, c'mon...he knows it. He's getting votes, however, from dudes like the one I heard on the radio this morning on a call-in yap fest:
"the government should do something [about gas prices]. they could open stations and just charge what it costs. If they started selling gas for $1.50, the other stations would be forced to lower their prices."
I was amazed. Utterly amazed.
I don't know that he knows; if he does, he's going in endorsing policies that he knows will impoverish millions. It's not quite a "Hitler" kind of thing, but it would be an incredibly immoral act.
You may be right, but I hesitate to attribute such wickedness to these guys.
On the other hand, this IS the same guy who couldn't bring himself to vote for a law to provide medical care to the victims of abortion who are born alive. Maybe you've got a point....
