Yesterday's sermon; prayer, from 1 Timothy. One quote read by our pastor, by John Macarthur, reminds us that if we devoted as much time to prayer as we do to political activism, we might really start to have an effect.
Not that it's wrong to point out the absurdity of what happens in DC on our blogs, or to write a note to our Congressman, or whatever, but remember that the effectiveness of one's letters is often proportional to the thickness of the callouses on our knees. It's desperately needed in this age!

whats that expression i heard once...
pray like its all you got, but work as if prayer has no effect, or something like that.
summed up proper,which i didnt do, it really hits the mark that prayer and action go together.
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." - 2 Chronicles 7:14
See also the Book of Nehemiah, chapter 1, and the prayer for restoration he prayed for Jerusalem and the nation of Israel.
Before praying against the wickedness in the land, or for blessing and restoration, first let us pray and repent for our (individually and as the Church/Body of Christ) own apathy or inattentiveness, humbling ourselves and confessing where we have sought our own comfort rather than the Lord's face.
