Even more puzzling than the idea that government can create things ex nihilo is the idea that God cannot, a concept shared by all too many, even many who claim His name. Far too many of us trust Uncle Sam, but not our Lord, for our daily bread.

Good thoughts. I'd also add that some of the governments "income" is derived from the $8 trillion in "loans" which our gov't owes, amd will never repay. When you control the printing of money I suppose you can dole out a few trillion for yourself. Pathetic.
Yes--I count inflation and debt as taxes, because both do take wealth out of the hands of those who create it. And BTW, the actual national debt is between 50 and 70 trillion dollars, not 8 trillion, when legal (GAAP) accounting methods are used.
Well said. Thankfully we don't need government to cut spending in order to draw closer to God.
