Two pipe dreams

#1; that the Federal government would begin to use "Generally Accepted Accounting Principles" (the ones that the rest of us are required to use by law) and declare bankruptcy, admitting the colossal debacles that are Social Security and Medicare. None of us under 40 (at least those of us who are sane) were counting on them, anyways, so we might as well make it official.

#2; that we'd collapse the size of government by instituting a modest tariff of 10% or so (get rid of NAFTA & GATT too, no 28,000 page treaty can make sense) and incrementally reduce the size of the budget as more and more spending becomes unnecessary.

I can dream, can't I?

Yes, you can dream as much as you want but unfortunately some dreams remain just that, so sorry:o(

It's quite amuzing to me that politicians can make up rules to govern themselves, give themselves raises, and spend other people's money w/o any problem.

While were dreaming, why not dream that everyone one of those crooks in Washington give back every wasted dollar they've ever spent. Then we really wouldn't need to worry about S.S.

Good dream, David...I would argue that I've made proposals that are possible (politicians lose all that money and can't return it, after all), but then again, you're probably right. Your dream is as likely as mine. :^)
