It's going to be cold protein coffee. "Protein coffee?", you ask. Yes, apparently people have started to add protein powder to their morning beverage, apparently unaware that there are a number of excellent protein sources for breakfast that are actually palatable, like eggs, yogurt, cheese, hummus, and more. There is actually a picture of this product being used in its natural setting, too! (thank you Gary Larson)

This is interesting, as I have been putting collagen peptides in my hot morning coffee for years. And still having my eggs and bacon for breakfast.
However, it's not to combat muscle loss. It was mostly for hair, skin, nails.
Collagen (I do this too) doesn't affect the taste of the coffee. I wonder if the protein powder people would also do this with butter coffee? I *have* seen butter coffee protein powder at the store...
Regarding the collagen, it's worth noting (lousy sonofadietician/SOD writing here) that dietary collagen is broken down into the same amino acids as any other protein, and collagen in the body is created...by the body from those same amino acids. Source: Mayo Clinic and M.D. Anderson. So you can supplement if you like, or if you prefer dietary protein, that will be just as good for you. It's all a question of getting a distribution of amino acids that will allow your body to work its magic.
Only anecdotal, but the collagen made my skin softer. No idea if it does much else. Good to know it officially counts to the protein count :)
